We are supporting a growing workplace technology and AV integration business in the search for a Technical Bid Designer to join their pre-sales and bid function.
This is a hybrid technical design and bid support role, sitting between AV design engineering and pre-sales, supporting the production of high-quality technical submissions for consultant-led and fit-out projects.
The Technical Bid Designer will work closely with the Bid Manager and wider technical teams to translate client requirements, consultant specifications, and architectural drawings into accurate AV system designs and bid documentation.
The role is central to producing competitive, technically sound proposals that support the business in winning new work across workplace technology and AV environments.
Responsibilities
- Produce technical AV designs from RFPs, RFQs, and consultant documentation
- Mark up floor plans, develop room layouts, schematics, and equipment positioning
- Build accurate Bills of Materials (BoMs) aligned to design outputs
- Support preparation, formatting, and quality control of bid documentation
- Interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications
- Raise RFIs and clarifications where design scope is unclear
- Ensure consistency across all technical drawings and bid submissions
- Manage multiple live bids simultaneously to tight deadlines
- Maintain a library of reusable design assets, templates, and technical content
Essential:
- Experience producing technical drawings, layouts, or AV/IT/M&E design documentation
- Strong AutoCAD skills (2D design and mark-ups)
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings and consultant specifications
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience using PDF mark-up tools such as Bluebeam or similar
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to strict deadlines
- Experience managing multiple concurrent bids or design outputs
- Strong written communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience in AV, UC, or workplace technology environments (e.g. Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms)
- Exposure to consultant-led tender processes or competitive bid environments
- Familiarity with Revit, SketchUp, or other 3D/BIM tools
- Experience supporting site surveys or working alongside project delivery teams
